The Sun

The Sun is one of Britain’s most famous and iconic brands.  Reaching nearly 8 million people every day it reflects the mood of the nation in a way no other media brand does.

The paper has the highest circulation of any daily English-language newspaper in the world and the biggest circulation within the UK, standing at an average daily sale of over 3 million copies.  This makes The Sun the most purchased product each day in the UK from Monday to Saturday.

  • The Sun is by far the dominant newspaper title in the UK and is read by 7,962,000 people each day
  • Immense scale: 2 million more readers than the Daily Star, Daily Express and the Mirror combined.
  • 56% more readers than the Daily Mail. The Sun is continuously growing its share of the press market
  • Connect with an enormous volume of spending power - £1 in every £6 spent on groceries is spent by a Sun reader
  • 44% of The Sun readers are actually female - reaches 1.2m women with kids every day

The Sun is based on powerful journalism like the recent ‘baby P petition' Starbucks expose and our ongoing support of the Help for Heroes charity. Reader promotions like our low energy bulb giveaway, which saw 4.2 million bulbs distributed, show The Sun at its best - a campaigning newspaper that engages its readers to make a positive difference.

Our low energy light bulb promotion involved giving away over 4.2m bulbs, which will have reduced CO2 emissions by up to 387,000 tonnes over the lifetime of the bulbs (equivalent to taking 100,000 cars off of the road for a year).

The Sun also teamed up with Morrisons to offer readers a £5 discount on their weekly shopping - over six weeks more than 1m Sun customers went through Morrison's doors to take advantage of this discount.
